A home designed around the pieces you choose

The Collector is for a primary residence or second home where significant furniture, artwork and objects deserve a considered place in the design. You may already have a collection, want to commission particular pieces, or need help finding the direction that brings the rooms together.

The starting point is the property and the way you want to live. Scale, light, circulation and everyday comfort guide the design alongside materials and the pieces themselves. A commission should answer a real need in the room, whether that is a dining table with particular proportions or a textile selected for a specific wall.

We discuss what you already own and what you want to keep before defining new purchases. The result can combine existing pieces, new commissions and carefully sourced furnishings.

How The Collector differs from Turnkey Home

Turnkey Home provides the complete residential furnishing service: interior design, procurement, installation and styling. It already allows for custom furniture and considered material selection.

The Collector adds a dedicated curation and sourcing program. We identify the significant pieces that should be commissioned or found, coordinate those decisions with the interior design, and assemble a bound home portfolio with available information about their makers, materials and provenance.

This distinction is about the depth of the collection program. Not every item needs to be a one-of-a-kind commission. The sourcing plan explains which pieces carry that role and which are better sourced conventionally.

What the project includes

Interior direction. Room layouts, a material and color palette, lighting direction and the relationship between furniture, art and the architecture. The design establishes where significant pieces belong before they are purchased.

Sourcing and curation plan. A room-by-room map of what will be retained, commissioned, found or sourced. We review priorities, the intended investment and how each selection contributes to the home.

Commission coordination. Briefs and approvals for dimensions, materials, finishes and the other specifications needed by the maker. Workshop questions and changes are reviewed against the agreed direction.

Art and antique selection. Reviewing the proposed works and objects with their available information, condition details and installation requirements. Purchasing decisions follow the approval process established for the project.

Receiving, installation and styling. Supplier coordination, inspection within the agreed scope, delivery access, placement and final composition of the rooms. Significant pieces and ordinary practical details are planned together.

Handover and the home portfolio. A walkthrough of the completed interior, care information and a bound record of significant pieces. The turnkey service also includes professional photography and 30-day post-install support for adjustments within the agreed scope.

What the home portfolio records

Documentation should identify what is known about a piece and where the information comes from. Depending on the work and records available, the portfolio can include:

• Maker, artist or supplier details and the available history of a piece.
• Materials, dimensions and the approved brief for commissioned work.
• Photographs and available provenance or purchase documentation.
• Care information and any specialist handling requirements.

An original work, an antique and a new furniture commission may have different types of records. We discuss gaps or uncertainty before a purchase is approved. The portfolio is a useful reference for living with and caring for the collection; it is not a guarantee of authenticity, valuation or appreciation.

How design and sourcing progress

1. Private consultation and property review. We discuss your home, existing collection, preferences, budget expectations and timing, and establish the information needed to scope the project.
2. Design and sourcing proposal. The interior direction and sourcing map identify the rooms, significant pieces, responsibilities and proposed calendar.
3. Selections and approvals. You review the proposed pieces, specifications and available documentation. The approval process is agreed before purchases or commissions are released.
4. Production and coordination. We follow the relevant workshops and suppliers, record decisions and review the impact of changes or delays.
5. Installation and handover. We coordinate the agreed receiving, placement and styling, walk you through the home and assemble the portfolio.

Accompanied studio or workshop visits can be arranged as an optional part of the sourcing plan. Their purpose, costs and schedule are agreed in advance, subject to maker availability.

Creating your San Miguel home from abroad

You can review the design and significant selections remotely. Our team coordinates the local stages while you remain involved in the decisions that shape the home.

Before the project starts, we agree how samples and finishes will be reviewed, how purchases are authorized and how updates will be shared. Measurements, receiving and installation still need local access, so we establish who can provide it and when.

If you are bringing an existing collection to Mexico, tell us early. Shipping, specialist handling, conservation and installation requirements may affect the scope and sequence.

Investment, timing and exclusions

The investment follows the property and the intended collection. The number of rooms, depth of custom work, artwork, antiques, materials and logistics all affect the proposal. We identify design and coordination, purchases, delivery, installation, applicable taxes and exclusions before work is committed.

A commissioned piece has a production schedule; a found piece has a search and selection process. We discuss both alongside property readiness and your preferred arrival date. Changes after approval are reviewed for their effect on cost and timing before proceeding.

Building renovation is a separate scope, contracted directly with your builder. If needed, Construction Supervision can be discussed independently. Optional sourcing travel, restoration, conservation, framing, insurance or specialist lifting must also be identified where relevant rather than assumed to be included.
