Our process
Interior design process in San Miguel de Allende.
Centinela Studio coordinates residential interiors in San Miguel de Allende from project review and private quotation through design approvals, sourcing, installation and handover. Owners can participate locally or from abroad. We agree the scope, responsibilities and proposed calendar before work begins; the stages and deliverables depend on the service you choose.
Discuss your projectFrom first contact to handover
A clear sequence. Defined decisions.
These stages describe a full-service residential interior or furnishing project. A focused furniture or window commission uses the relevant design, approval and installation steps; consultation and renovation supervision have their own deliverables.
01
Share your property and priorities
Tell us the property stage, rooms involved, existing pieces and preferred timing. We review whether you need a complete interior, a focused commission or initial design direction. A budget estimate is optional context, not a published package price.
Your part: identify the property, goals and any move-in or access constraints.
02
Agree the right scope and proposal
We coordinate the appropriate property visit or video conversation and clarify the service needed. Your individual proposal sets out the agreed deliverables, responsibilities, commercial terms and proposed schedule. Any Design Consultation is quoted and arranged separately before booking.
Your part: review and approve the agreed scope and terms before work begins.
03
Review the design and approve selections
The agreed design phase develops the direction, layouts, materials and selections required for your project. Existing pieces are considered where included. Specifications and revision allowances follow the contract; detailed design work is not assumed to be part of an initial inquiry.
Your part: approve the relevant design and specifications before the associated orders are released.
04
Coordinate sourcing and commissions
Approved selections guide purchases and any custom work included in the scope. We coordinate supplier questions, receiving and inspection within the agreed responsibilities. Proposed substitutions or changes are reviewed with you for their effect on scope, cost and timing.
Your part: respond to the decisions assigned to you and approve changes before proceeding.
05
Install and bring the rooms together
Delivery, fitting, placement and styling are coordinated around the agreed installation plan and property readiness. Access, any construction handover and special handling requirements need to be resolved with the responsible parties. Open items are documented rather than hidden.
Your part: arrange access through you or an authorized representative and confirm the property is ready.
06
Walk through the agreed result
Handover takes place in person or remotely, as arranged. We review the supplied work, available care information and any outstanding items. Documentation and post-install support depend on the service and agreed terms; handover is not the start of unlimited maintenance or guest management.
Your part: review the handover and route any project-related issues through the agreed support process.

For owners abroad
Local coordination. Your decisions stay yours.
You can review the design and approve decisions by video and through the agreed reporting channel. At the start, identify who can authorize selections, who can provide access and whether a representative will attend delivery or handover. We coordinate the local work included in the scope; approvals are not assumed simply because you are out of the country.
Share any target arrival date early. The property must be ready for the agreed installation, and construction responsibilities need to be clear. If renovation is involved, our Construction Supervision service can provide separately scoped design-focused oversight with your own builder.
Choose the right starting point.

FAQ
Before you begin
Can I manage a San Miguel interior project from the US or Canada?
Yes. Design reviews and approvals can take place remotely while Centinela coordinates the agreed local work. We establish the communication route, authorized decisions and access arrangements with you. Remote coordination does not remove the need for your approvals or for someone authorized to provide property access.
Does sending the inquiry form book a consultation or commit me to a project?
No. It requests a conversation about your property. We review the appropriate next step and confirm any consultation scope, private quotation and appointment directly. The form does not take payment, reserve a time or start a furnishing contract.
How do I receive a quotation?
Contact us with the property stage, rooms or pieces involved, existing furnishings and preferred timing. We review the scope before preparing an individual quotation. We do not publish service prices or universal package ranges; your proposed terms are discussed directly before you approve work.
Do I need to book a complete interior project?
No. The service depends on the need: Turnkey Home or The Collector for a complete interior, a focused furniture or curtain commission, or a Design Consultation for initial direction. Renovation supervision has its own scope and your builder remains under a separate contract.
Who approves purchases and custom pieces?
The agreement identifies the person authorized to approve design selections, specifications and purchases. The relevant approvals are recorded before those orders are released. If someone will decide for you, establish that authority and the communication route before procurement.
What happens if I change my mind after approval?
We review the requested change for its effect on scope, cost, availability and schedule before proceeding. Supplier orders or custom work already committed may have their own restrictions. Additional work, cancellations and revision allowances follow the agreed project and supplier terms; changes are not assumed to be unlimited or free.
Can you guarantee the home will be ready for my arrival date?
A preferred arrival date helps with planning, but it is not a delivery guarantee. The agreed calendar depends on scope, approvals, sourcing, production, access and any construction work. We confirm the proposed milestones and review changes as the project progresses.
Is renovation or ongoing property management part of the interior project?
Not automatically. Construction, engineering and technical approvals require the appropriate professionals and agreements. Where Centinela provides renovation supervision, you contract directly with the builder. Post-install support follows the chosen service terms; ongoing maintenance, rental management and guest services are not implied.
